once upon a time…

THE WORLD WAS A VERY SCARY AND CRAZY PLACE, A GIANT PANDEMIC HIT, WE WEREN’T ALOUD TO GO ANYWHERE, TRAVEL, SEE FAMILY. IT WAS A MESS AND SUCH A HARD FEW YEARS. FAST FORWARD TWO YEARS AND THINGS START TO BE GETTING BETTER, MASKS COME OFF, THINGS ARE LOOKING UP.

THIS IS THE YEAR TO START TRAVELING AGAIN. MY YOUNGEST LIV NEVER HAD EVEN BEEN ON A PLANE YET (WE LOVE TO TRAVEL WHEN WE CAN SO THIS WAS HARD.)

SO THE “BUESCHER’S FAMILY REUNION 2022” HAD BEEN PLANNED IN THE OUTER BANKS OF North Carolina, A VERY SPECIAL PLACE FOR ALL OF US. IT WAS A LITTLE SMALLER GROUP, I THINK LIKE 24 OF US. EVERY SUMMER MY GREAT GRANDPARENTS HOSTED A TWO WEEK LONG REUNION WHERE WE MADE AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF MEMORIES. IT WAS SOMETHING WE ALL LOOKED FORWARD TO EVERY YEAR. WHEN WE WENT TO MY GREAT GRANDPARENTS house in kill devil hills,NC, KIDS SLEPT ON THE COUCHES, FLOORS, ANYWHERE BUT BEDS, IF YOU WEREN’T MARRIED YOU WERE NOT ALOUD TO SLEEP IN THE SAME BED, THERE WAS NOTHING GLAMOROUS ABOUT THIS TRIP BUT WE FILLED OUR DAYS LAYING ON THE BEACH, WE MADE PB&J SANDWICHES, WE HAD A TALENT SHOW, THE ADULTS STAYED UP TALKING AROUND A BIG TABLE. IT WAS SIMPLY PERFECT IN EVERY WAY. WE CAME FROM ALL OVER, DIFFERENT PEOPLE, DIFFERENT BELIEFS AND VIEWS ALL WITH THIS IN COMMON… LOVING THE OBX BEACH AND OUR GRANDPARENTS.

GETTING TO THE OBX WAS A CHALLENGE DURING THIS PANDEMIC, WE HAD TO STOP FOR LAYOVERS WE WENT TO NASHVILLE FOR A FEW DAYS THEN DROVE I FELT LIKE THAT WAS MORE SAFE THEN HAVING TO MAKE 2+ STOPS, WE WERE TRYING TO AVOID LOSING LUGGAGE AND GETTING COVID.. WELL JOKES ON US AFTER GETTING TO THE OBX WE STARTED FEELING OFF AND BY WEDNESDAY WE TESTED POSITIVE. ALL 4 OF US. AT THIS POINT OTHERS STARTED FEELING SICK TOO. I WAS SHOCKED BUT ALSO NOT REALLY WE DID A LOT OF TRAVELING TO GET THERE BUT AFTER THESE TWO YEARS OF BEING CAUTIOUS I WAS JUST SO DISAPPOINTED. JUST OUR LUCK WE HAD ALSO TRAVELED DURING A STORM, WE SAW NO SUNSHINE NO BEACH DAYS JUST A FEW MINUTES IN A HOT TUB GETTING SMACKED BY 35MPH WINDS. OUR POOR KIDS WERE STIR CRAZY IT WAS A HOTMESS. LUCKILY EVERYONE SEEMED TO BE ON THE SAME PAGE WITH COVID. ONE BAD DAY THEN STARTED FEELING BETTER.

THIS TRIP WAS ON THE same LEVEL OF shit show- 1998 FAMILY REUNION WHERE HURRICANE BONNIE HIT AND ALL THE KIDS GOT CHICKEN POX.

ok this all sounds terrible but it wasn’t. i got so much quality time with my family who live in GA. my daughters non stopped played with their cousins. we laughed, ate, drank, we sat around a big table and cought up on life, talent show still went on. it was a DIFFERENT form of perfect and i am so happy we went.

my conclusion was that my nana d was up in heaven like “woah woah woah… unmarried people are sleeping in the same bed?… kids are in beds??? you got a boujee house with a pool???? ok well you get a big storm and everyone gets covid! ha jk… but maybe not…

the end… what a story for the books

the few hours of sun the last day.
